From Quote to Casting Floor: Assembling Aluminum Gas – Round Crucible Melting Furnace
Every furnace we build begins with a challenge—and this one came from the aerospace sector.
Earlier this year, a U.S.-based aerospace manufacturer contacted us through our website. Their team was scaling up production of aluminum components for aircraft systems and needed a high-capacity gas holding furnace that could deliver consistent thermal performance, energy efficiency, and seamless integration with their casting workflow.
They had reviewed our GM-A Series Aluminum Gas Holding Furnaces and were particularly interested in the GM-A-220 model, designed for holding up to 220 lbs of molten aluminum with precise temperature control and minimal heat loss—ideal for aerospace aluminum casting applications.

Every Furnace We Build Is a Solution
Consultation & Customization
Within 24 hours, our sales engineer, Luke, was on a call with their production manager, Alex. The conversation wasn’t about specs—it was about solving problems.
Their current aluminum holding furnace was struggling to maintain stable temperatures during long casting runs.
Energy consumption was high, and burner efficiency was inconsistent.
Maintenance downtime was eating into production schedules.
Alex explained that their casting line operated 24/7, producing structural aluminum parts for aerospace assemblies. They needed a reliable, high-efficiency gas-fired holding furnace that could maintain temperature stability, reduce fuel usage, and meet strict safety standards.
Engineering the Right Solution
After reviewing their requirements, our technical team proposed a customized GM-A-220 aluminum gas holding furnace, optimized for aerospace-grade aluminum processing. This was achieved by using a specially designed program and hardware solution.
Key Features Included:
A customized operating system that included specialized software and hardware
- High-efficiency gas burner system with automatic flame modulation for fuel savings
VFD Drives combined with Premium Inverter Duty Motors
Digital PID temperature controller with programmable setpoints and dual thermocouples
Steel shell for long-term durability
We Use Brand Name Components You Know and Already Use
👉 These features make the GM-A-220 an ideal solution for aluminum melting and holding in aerospace foundries, where precision and uptime are critical. For more information about our GM-A Series visit the product page
Manufacturing in Motion
Once the order was confirmed, our production team began fabrication at our facility.
Shell Fabrication & Lining
The outer shell was fabricated from thick-gauge carbon steel, welded and stress-relieved to prevent warping under thermal load.
The interior was lined with high-density refractory brick, followed by layers of ceramic fiber blanket insulation to minimize heat loss and improve fuel efficiency.
The furnace lid was reinforced with a counterweight system for safe, ergonomic access during maintenance.

Before shipment, the GM-A-220 underwent a rigorous multi-day testing protocol:
Thermal cycling tests to verify insulation performance and temperature stability
Burner ignition and flame stability trials under varying load conditions
Temperature hold tests to confirm ±5°C accuracy over 12-hour cycles
Safety system validation including flame failure response and over-temp shutdown
Control panel diagnostics to ensure accurate sensor readings and alarm functionality
All test results were documented in a comprehensive QA report, which was included in the customer’s delivery packet along with:
Calibration certificates
Wiring diagrams
Maintenance schedule
Operator manual
Ready for Shipment
With testing complete and documentation finalized, the GM-A-220 aluminum gas holding furnace was prepared for shipment.
The furnace was wrapped to be protected against moisture
Mounted on a custom steel skid with vibration dampening supports
The control cabinet and accessories were boxed, labeled, and secured too
A flatbed truck was scheduled for pickup, with GPS tracking and delivery confirmation set for the following week
